The Assistive
Technology Clinic of Toledo began in 2001 in an attempt to fill a
void in the lives of individuals with disabilities within our
community. We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to
live a more fulfilling, functional and independent life.
Often times,
people with physical disabilities are perceived as being dependent
on others in every facet of their life. However, now more than ever,
in this world of rapidly improving technology, people with
disabilities have an opportunity to live a life of independence with
access to appropriate assistive technology.
The ATCT is a
means to do just that.
We have partnered
with leading manufacturers in the rehab industry to obtain
devices/equipment that allow our clients to demonstrate their vast
abilities.
Although in the past therapists have had to
make educated guesses as to whether or not a person would be able to
utilize a certain piece of equipment, the ATCT allows clients to use
potentially beneficial technology on a trial basis before making a
financial investment in the equipment.
Our experienced
and passionate staff strives to offer a comprehensive evaluation of
current skills, suggestions for improvements and/or training
required, prescription and provision of equipment and any necessary
follow up for training and education of caregivers as well as the
client. We are the only clinic in the region with the experience,
resources and professionalism throughout the entire process. This clinic is the only opportunity
for a client to have an on-going evaluation of skills to determine
the appropriate equipment for them to access their environment in
the most efficient way.
The ATCT is
designed for anyone in need of technology to assist them in living
life to its fullest. Our specialties include (but are not limited
to) the following neurological impairments:
